Fishing Conditions
Temp (River): Average of 20ºC – 24ºC
Water Clarity: Clear water.
Water Level: 76.84%
Rainfall: 27mm
Other Conditions: The Dam level has dropped slightly below the 77% level.
Fishing Area: From Mpalane Bay, Crocodile Bay towards the railway bridge, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2 - 8m of water and towards the mouth of the river where it enters the main Dam.
Fish Caught
Tiger Fish Sizes: Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 5.7kg. The largest one of 5.7kg was caught on sardine.
Total Tiger Fish: An average of 425 Tiger Fish were caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats. Sardine was the main bait of the month. Trolling with Rapalas and spinners also worked very well. Live bait, chicken livers and hearts also worked.
Barbel: A few Barbel were also caught while fishing for Tiger Fish, using sardine and chicken livers.

Lure Colour of the Month: Red and Orange Rapala.
Important News: Some very good fish are being caught at the moment! The Annual Tiger Fish Bonanza’s winning fish this month weighed in at 4.96kg.
