Fishing Conditions
​
Temp (River): Average of 20ºC – 26ºC
Water Clarity: The water is a bit murky in the river section due to the increased inflow of water from upstream.
Water Level: 74.46%
​
Rainfall: 113.5mm
Other Conditions: The Dam level is rising again due to the good rains received in the catchment and the Bivane Dam overflowing. This is good news.

Fishing Area: From Mpalane Bay, Crocodile Bay towards the railway bridge, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2 - 8m of water and towards the mouth of the river where it enters the main Dam continue to be the best fishing spots.
Fish Caught
Tiger Fish Sizes: Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 3.7kg. The largest one of 3.7kg was caught on sardine.

Total Tiger Fish: The fishing has once again been good, with an average of 1151 Tiger Fish caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats. Drop bait was the main bait, also trolling with Rapala’s in the cleaner water. Sardine & chicken hearts/livers also proved successful, especially in the murkier water.
Barbel: A few Barbel and bream were caught while fishing for Tiger Fish; using sardine, chicken livers and chicken hearts.
Lure Colour of the Month: Orange and Red Rapala’s
