Fishing Conditions
Temp (River): Average of 18ºC – 21ºC

Water Clarity: The water is nice and clean.
Water Level: 86.06%
Rainfall: 6mm
Other Conditions: The Dam level has stabilised. The water temperature is dropping, but the fish are still biting!
Fishing Area: From Mpalane Bay, Crocodile Bay towards the railway bridge, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2 - 8m of water and towards the mouth of the Dam remain the best fishing spots.

Fish Caught
Tiger Fish Sizes: Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 5.2kg. The largest one of 5.2kg was caught on sardine.
Total Tiger Fish: The fishing continued to be great during May, with an average of 1417 Tiger Fish caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats, with flyfishing also proving very successful. Sardine and chicken heart cocktail remained the best bait. Chicken livers, spinners, live bait and trolling also worked well.

Other Species: A few good sized Barbel were caught while fishing for Tiger Fish; using sardine, chicken livers and chicken hearts.

Lure Colour of the Month: Orange and Red lures proved the most successful colours.
