Fishing Conditions    

                     

Temp (River): Average of 18ºC – 20ºC

​

Water Clarity: The water is relatively clear. 

​

Water Level: 85.81%

​​

Rainfall: 92mm

​​

Other Conditions: The Water level has remained consistent since last month.

​

Fishing Area: From Mpalane Bay, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2-8m and towards the mouth of the main Dam.

 

Fish Caught

 

Tiger Fish Sizes: Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 5.4kg. The largest one of 5.4kg was caught on sardine. Not too many large fish were caught but there were a few good ones.

Total Tiger Fish: An average of 303 Tiger Fish were caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats. The best baits being sardine, chicken livers & chicken hearts. Trolling slowly using spinners also had some success this month.

​

Other Species: Barbel were also caught while fishing for Tiger Fish using sardine and chicken livers.

​

Lure Colour of the Month: Orange and Green.

​

Important News: Although fewer fish were caught than during April, which is to be expected this time of the year, there were still some good fish caught and great times experienced!

​
