Fishing Conditions
Temp (River): Average of 19ºC – 24ºC
​
Water Clarity: The water is currently looking nice and clear.
​
Water Level: 87.73%
​
Rainfall: 9.5mm
​
Other Conditions: The Annual Water Release is currently taking place. It started on 29th October and will stop on 9th November. This will relate to about a 10% drop in water level. The water temperature is good resulting is some good catches.
​
Fishing Area: From Mpalane Bay, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2 - 8m of water and towards the mouth of the main Dam. With the dropping water level, be careful of tree stumps and obstructions just and the water surface!
Fish Caught
Tiger Fish Sizes: Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 6kg. The largest one of 6kg was caught on sardine.

Total Tiger Fish: An average of 2311 Tiger Fish were caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats. Sardine, chicken livers & chicken hearts were the best baits. Live bait also worked very well this month.
​
Other Species: Plenty of Barbel are still being caught while fishing for Tiger Fish, using sardine and chicken livers.

Lure Colour of the Month: Bright colours.

Important News: Fishing has been excellent with fisherman and fisherwomen have great fun out on the water!
